Born in 1857, John G. Riley was a prominent member of Tallahassee's African American community. He served as the principle of the city's first African American high school.
This house was built in 1890, and members of the Riley family lived here until the 1970s. Today, it is on the National Register of Historic Places, and serves as a museum and educational center.
